BAMMA 7 is headed back to the Birmingham NIA

Europe’s largest and most prominent Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) promotion, The British Association of Mixed Martial Arts (BAMMA) hosts BAMMA 7 at the NIA, Birmingham this Saturday 10 September 2011.

Thirteen fights are on the card for BAMMA 7, with the main card including the bouts: Jimmy Wallhead vs Frank Trigg, Paul Daley vs Jordan Radev and the British Middleweight Title bout with Jack Marshman vs Carl Noon. The MMA event will also see Rob Sinclair battle it out against Leonardo Santos for the vacant World Lightweight Title.

Paul “Semtex” Daley’s return to Birmingham for his face off against top European contender Jordan Radev marks his second fight with BAMMA. A late addition to the BAMMA 7 fight card, Daley first fought for the MMA promotion in February at BAMMA 5 – claiming a notable victory over Yuya Shirai. Coming into the fight off of two narrow defeats to Nick Diaz and Tyrone Woodley, Daley is more determined than ever to prove he is still a top contender in the welterweight division.

Daley had this to say about the fight:

“I want my title shot again, plain and simple. If I have to plough through Radev to get a crack at the belt, then unlucky for him. I can’t wait to be fighting for my UK fans again and I promise that by the end of the year I’ll be crowned as the BAMMA Welterweight champion.”

Daley, a fighter who many believe has an Achilles heel for wrestlers, certainly has no concerns about facing an Olympic wrestler in Radev:

“Game plan this, game plan that, everyone has a great game plan until they get punched in the face. When Radev feels my left hook, his only game plan will be how quickly he can get a flight back to Bulgaria.”

Jordan Radev (21-4-0) is currently riding a four fight win streak and holds notable wins over UFC fighter Jorge Santiago, Yuya Shirai and Alexander Schlemenko.  Radev joins the fast growing welterweight division which includes Nate Marquardt and also has his eye on a title shot.

“It’s a real honour to fight for BAMMA. I’m really impressed by their growth and I’m very happy to be making my debut against a World class fighter.” said the Bulgarian. “I want BAMMA to see me as a title contender so if I have to beat the fan favourite for that recognition, so be it.”
