Sex Education star Asa Butterfield will be in Brum this month for Comic Con!
Netflix’s ‘Sex Education’ star Asa Butterfield is heading to Birmingham this month to meet fans at MCM Comic Con at the NEC.
Currently starring opposite Gillian Anderson in hit new comedy Sex Education, the Hollywood star will be joining a host of TV and film celebrities in Birmingham later this month.
In Sex Education, Butterfield plays the lead role of Otis Milburn in the critically-acclaimed coming-of-age comedy drama, which has already been renewed for a second season.
The awkward teen son of renowned relationship therapist Dr. Jean Milburn (Anderson), Butterfield’s character teams up with classmate and social outcast Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey) to start their own underground sex therapy clinic at their high school.
Since making his big screen debut aged 10 in 2007 British comedy Son of Rambow, rising star Butterfield has gone on to play leading roles in a bevy of major movies, including Hugo Cabret in Academy Award-winning Scorsese film Hugo; Ender Wiggin in sci-fi actioner Ender’s Game; Jake Portman in Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Bruno in Holocaust drama The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
Most recently, London-born Butterfield completed production on Stephen Fry’s The Liar, in which he plays central character Adrian.
Meanwhile, fans of BBC fantasy series Merlin will remember the 21-year-old as young Mordred – a role later taken over by fellow MCM Birmingham guest Alexander Vlahos.
Other celebrities currently scheduled to appear at the city’s annual spring geek-fest include Felicia Day, Osric Chau, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Tom Hopper, and Rupert Young; with more being announced periodically.
MCM Comic Con takes place in Birmingham twice every year, showcasing the best in comic, cosplay; film, TV, animation and gaming trends and nostalgia.
