Queer Question Time planned for Birmingham ahead of General Election 2019
A political hustings tackling issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community is taking place in central Birmingham this week.
As the General Election approaches, ‘Queer Question Time’ returns once again, with members of the public putting their questions to representatives of all the major political parties.
The event – which follows the format of the popular BBC programme and has taken place in the run up to the last five general elections – will be held at The Loft in Birmingham city centre.
With MP candidates from the Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem, Green and Brexit parties confirmed to attend, a lively debate and discussion is expected as topical concerns about equality education, homophobia, representation, the NHS and Brexit will no doubt be raised.
Steve Ball, who will be chairing proceedings, said:
“Queer Question Time provides an excellent opportunity for the LGBT community to engage with what is likely to be the most important and unpredictable general election for a generation. Politicians of all parties are accountable to the electorate and this is our opportunity to make sure that the LGBT voice is heard. ”
