Sheldon man in ‘critical’ condition after being shot by gunman who broke into house
Residents have been left shocked and disturbed after a gunman broke into a house in the Sheldon area of Birmingham on Friday night and shot a man.
The 28-year-old victim was rushed to hospital in a ‘crtical’ condition according to West Midlands Police.
An investigation has been launched into the shooting and police are appealing for information to catch the gunman who fled the scene of the crime.
Detectives believe the gunman forced his way into the property in Downsfield Road, Sheldon, before firing at the victim, aged 28, at around 10.30pm on Friday.
The gunman made his way out of the house after the cold blooded shooting and made his escape from the scene of the crime.
Thanks to the swift action of the West Midlands Ambulance Service, who arrived quickly to the scene of the shooting, the victim was rushed to hospital. His condition was today described as ‘critical’ by medical staff.
The investigation into this alarming case is at an early stage, but detectives have recovered CCTV footage from the area and are currently following up a number of lines of enquiry.
Extra patrols are being carried out in the area today to reassure frightened residents.
