Street art painted in Digbeth to launch Birmingham-based show The Rap Game UK
A 7ft graffiti mural has been sprayed in Digbeth to launch the second series of BBC Three show The Rap Game UK.
The BBC has released a video showing Birmingham-based artist David Brown aka Panda spraying the artwork of the show in the Zellig car park in Digbeth.
The Rap Game UK was filmed in Birmingham and returns to BBC iPlayer at 7pm this Thursday 22 October, hosted by UK rap legends DJ Target, Krept and Konan.
Six unsigned UK MCs travel to Birmingham to get a masterclass in rap, living together in a luxury penthouse and competing to win a record deal with Krept and Konan’s label.
One of the six MCs is DDroid from Birmingham. He was previously part of a successful duo under the name Wavy Gang. Talking about taking part in series two he said: “Series 1 was cool. And it was set in Brum!
It’s the rapper’s dream – living in a penthouse, spitting your bars, get feedback, come out the backend doing great. Who doesn’t want that?”
This will be the second series of The Rap Game UK in which each week the artists are set two challenges in which they will be asked to step up and show that they have got the hardest bars, the song writing props, and the stage presence to cut it in the music industry.
The British series is based on a US version of the same name which launched in 2016 and has broadcast five series. The first UK series was broadcast in August 2019, consisting of six 60-minute episodes. The second series follows a similar format and is available on BBC iPlayer.
