Death of 56-year-old man found in a Birmingham hospital car park remains ‘officially unexplained’, say police
A post mortem on the body of a man found in a car at Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield has proved inconclusive, say police.
West Midlands Police launched an investigation into the death of a 56-year-old man from Kingstanding, Birmingham after his body was discovered on Friday (22 April).
A post mortem was held as soon as possible to help them understand what caused the man’s unexplained death.
However, the examination didn’t show any obvious signs of injury and there was no evidence to suggest the man had been assaulted.
His death remains officially unexplained and police enquiries continue.
The car where the body was found had earlier been removed for more detailed forensic examination while the area of the car park which had been closed off was reopened.
In a statement, West Midlands Police stated, “Further tests will take place in due course which hopefully will explain what led to the man’s death.
“The man’s family was informed by police of the tragically sad news, police had arrested a 43-year-old man from Tamworth in connection with the investigation but have now released him without charge.
“One of our specially trained family liaison officers are supporting the man’s loved ones.”
Police are urging anyone with information that could help detectives to contact them via Live Chat on the West Midlands website, quoting investigation number 20/393435/22.
