Birmingham residents in shock after snake loose in Small Heath garden
Birmingham residents in the Small Heath area of the city were left shocked after a resident discovered a snake slithering around in his garden yesterday (Tuesday 17).
The reptile, thought to be a corn or milk snake, had reportedly crawled out of a cardboard box at a property in the Small Heath area of Birmingham but the brave resident captured the reptile.
Zain Iqbal, who lives in Small Heath, shared a picture of the snake in his garden on a Facebook community page.
Members of the public are asked not to be alarmed as the snake seems to be a harmless pet which has escaped.
The snake is not venomous, despite the brightly coloured stripes, and is a popular species for pet owners.
Iqbal reassured local people that he had safely captured the orange striped reptile without causing it any harm and later contacted the RSPCA. Iqbal said officers will collect the snake unless the owner is found.
He later posted a picture of the snake in the hope of tracing the owner and returning the pet.
