Birmingham men arrested at Heathrow Airport for terrorism offence, say police

Two men from Birmingham have been arrested for a terrorism offence at Heathrow Airport.
According to police, the men, aged 30 and 66, were detained at the airport under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000 yesterday (16 February).
A statement from West Midlands Police confirms “the pair were scheduled to board a plane out of the UK.”
The force also revealed an address in Birmingham is due to be searched in relation to the incident.
“They have been arrested under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006 on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of terrorism,” the police stated.
“They were transported to a police station in the West Midlands to be questioned.’
