Drag superstar Alyssa Edwards is heading from Texas to Birmingham this spring to share her life story with a generous dose of camp glamour.
Following appearances on the Emmy-Award winning RuPaul’s Drag Race and Netflix series Dancing Queen, Alyssa Edwards – real name Justin Dwayne Lee Johnson – has announced that her critically acclaimed one-diva show will finally debut in the UK.
‘Becoming Alyssa, The Life Story Of A Traveling Queen’ will be crossing the Atlantic this May, launching its UK run at the Birmingham Town Hall.
The show is described as an “epic, must-see-tell-all dance-all story about her life growing up, her extraordinary drag career and incredible journey to finding love”.

From Mesquite Texas to the global stage, Alyssa’ life is a spectacle as the American entertainer, choreographer and television personality shot to international fame on season 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, before appearing on RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars 2, America’s Got Talent and his notable Netflix docuseries, Dancing Queen.
Catapulted to fame in 2012 for her candid testimonials, outrageous tongue-pops and quirky personality, Alyssa’s magnetism led her to leading a sold out, critically acclaimed stint at the Vaudeville Theatre in London’s historic West End in 2021.
Alyssa also embarked on a 31 a cross-country US tour spanning from Los Angeles to New York City – with 31 cities in between. Entitled the Life, Love and Lashes Tour, the one-diva show was “a non- stop adrenaline spectacle – pulling back the velvet curtain to reveal Alyssa’s most intimate secrets”.
With a global fan base which includes 1.9M followers on Instagram, Alyssa’s tour is sure to draw in a huge crowd.
Hailed as the “sickening queen supreme” by The Times, Alyssa Edwards’ latest show will be on in the West Midlands at the Birmingham Town Hall on 2 May, before heading to Cardiff, London, Manchester and Ediburgh. Tickets are available here.
