A man, believed to be in his 90s, has tragically perished in a house fire on Saturday in the Acocks Green area of Birmingham. Firefighters sped to the terraced property in Overton Road at 5:50am on 4 February and forced entry, but sadly the elderly occupant could not be saved.
A massive crew of firefighters tackled a fiery inferno at a supermarket in the Saltley area of Birmingham on Bank Holiday Monday. Around 80 firefighters battled to stop the blaze spreading from the store to a nearby primary school on Monday night.
A raging fire engulfed a house in Wordsworth Road, Small Heath, which forced emergency services to evacuate local residents as 26 firefighters battled to bring the inferno under control this afternoon (15 January). West Midlands Fire Service responded to the emergency call shortly after 4pm on Saturday.
Plumes of smoke rose over the Small Heath area of Birmingham this afternoon as a severe fire broke out at a garage in Wright Street which required five engines to douse out the blaze. Fire crews arrived at the scene around 12:05pm (11 January) and it took around 35 firefighters to tackle the blaze.
Small Heath residents were left in shock last night as a vehicle was engulfed in flames on a busy section of Coventry Road. The dramatic incident, which took place shortly before 6pm on Thurday 26 November, was captured by local people and motorists on their mobile phones.
Local residents have been left shocked as an ice cream van caught fire on a busy Smethwick street, with the flames then spreading to a local high street store. With 20 firefighters currently tackling the blaze in Cape Hill, fire safety officials and asking members of the public to maintain a distance from the fire.
