Three men have been arrested 160 miles away in Devon for the suspected murder of a man outside a shopping precinct in the Shard End area of Birmingham. 50-year-old dad Darren Smith was allegedly ambushed and killed by men armed with a “hammer” on Wednesday afternoon.

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was attacked and killed in the Shard End area of Birmingham. 50-year-old Darren Smith was found seriously injured after being attacked outside shops in Heath Way just after 2.50pm yesterday (15 March).
