A up-and-coming Shropshire teen singer will help her hometown celebrate the start of the festive season with a special performance at its annual Christmas Lighting Up Night. 17-year-old Jen North from Bridgnorth will light up the stage in the town’s high street for an hour-long Christmas performance from 7pm on Friday 22 November, marking the close of the lights switch-on event.

Internationally renowned singer Sinead O’Connor has revealed she has converted to Islam and changed her name. In a recent tweet to fans, the 51-year-old Irish singer announced she had become a Muslim and changed her name to Shuhada Davitt. The news comes after O’Connor legally changed her name to Magda Davitt only last year.
